Privacy Policy

SmartBill is operated by Tazlo Technologies ("Tazlo", "we", "us"), which is responsible for the data described here. This policy explains, in simple language, what data SmartBill collects, why we collect it, where it is stored, and how you can ask us to delete it. We follow the principles of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

1. Data we collect

We collect only the data needed to run the service:

  • Restaurant details — name, address, phone, email, GST details, and logo.
  • Staff accounts — names, emails, phone numbers, and roles of the people who use SmartBill at your restaurant.
  • Customer details — names and phone numbers your restaurant saves, so bills and WhatsApp receipts can be sent to them.
  • Billing records — orders, bills, payments, and credit usage.

2. Why we collect it

We use this data only to provide the service:

  • Generating and printing bills.
  • Sending bill receipts and business summaries on WhatsApp.
  • Building your sales, GST, and inventory reports.
  • Keeping your account secure and supporting you when you contact us.

We do not use your data for anything else.

3. Where your data is stored

Your data is stored on secure cloud servers located in India. Access is protected by encryption, passwords, and role-based permissions — staff at one restaurant can never see another restaurant's data.

4. We never sell your data

We never sell your data, your staff's data, or your customers' data to anyone. We share data only with the service providers needed to run SmartBill — for example, WhatsApp (Meta) to deliver receipts you choose to send, and our payment provider to process credit purchases. These providers may only use the data to provide their service to us.

5. How long we keep data

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. Billing records are kept as long as needed for your business records and legal requirements (for example, tax rules that require invoices to be kept for several years).

6. Your rights and data deletion

Under the DPDP Act, you have the right to:

  • Ask what data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct data that is wrong.
  • Ask us to delete your data. Restaurants can request full deletion of their account and data by contacting us (details below). We will delete it, except for records the law requires us to keep.

If your restaurant saved your details as a customer and you want them removed, you can contact us or the restaurant directly.

7. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in an important way, we will let you know — for example, with a notice inside the app.
